Two drunken drivers collide near Stark County line in Uniontown

Two drunken drivers from Stark County collided just a half mile north of the county line late Thursday night, according to Ohio Highway Patrol troopers.

Neither was hurt.

A Canton man whose 34th birthday is Saturday and a 59-year-old Uniontown man were both cited, said Lt. William Weirtz in a news release Friday morning.

The crash occurred about 10:45 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Canton and Killian roads.

The Canton man was driving a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am north on Canton Road and the Uniontown man was driving a 2007 Ford Taurus south on Canton Road. The Canton man attempted to turn left onto Killian, Weirtz said. The trooper said the Canton man failed to yield the right-of-way when turning left and the two vehicles collided.

The Canton man’s blood-alcohol content level was 0.282, more than three and a half times the legal driving limit of 0.08, Weirtz said. The Uniontown man’s BAC level was 0.151.

Both drivers were arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
